Noah’s ArkMembers’ exhibition and ‘So much depends upon a stick in the mud’ by Diek Grobler
29 January 2016 till 10 February 2016
Noah’s Ark is open from 29 January 2016 to 10 February 2016 when the Association of Arts Pretoria’s annual members’ exhibition is held. All members are invited to exhibit their artworks to their heart’s desire. More than a hundred responded and are showing their enthusiasm, their originality and artistic talents. These members are artists in their own right, some of them now for the first time, jumped out of the closet, others well established. True, all the works are not Pierneef’s or Picasso’s but there are some affordable gems to delight any art collector.
Diek Grobler is our foremost animation artist. As a bonus to this exhibition he brings an installation of a series of animations. It formed part of the ‘Jump into the unknown’ exhibition, an official collateral event of the 56th Venice Biennale and shows how streets and locations in this famous city are indicated by notices stuck in the muddy waters. These images became metaphors for simpletons who are really a ‘Stick in the mud’. The exhibition is opened at 18h30 for 19h00 on Friday 29 January 2016 in the Mackie Street Art Gallery of the Association and can be seen till 10 February 2016.
