World Art Day exhibition 2023

To celebrate World Art Day the Association of Arts Pretoria, in collaboration with SANAVA, has invited member artists to participate in their World Art Day exhibition 2023.  All works will be done on canvas of 20,3 cm x 20,3 cm. 
 
All over the country hundreds of working artists with exceptional talent can be found.  Often, they lack opportunities to have their work exhibited.  Over the past decade or two, many art societies were revived, and new ones established.  SANAVA, the South African National Association for the Visual Arts, the umbrella body of these art societies, in conjunction with the Association of Arts Pretoria, decided to organise a special exhibition of selected works by members of its branches to mirror the bustling and vibrancy of the various art scenes.
 
World Art Day is an initiative of the International Association of Art (IAA), a non-governmental organization associated with UNESCO. The chosen date is 15 April as it marks the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci. The Association of Arts Pretoria’s exhibition will therefore run from 15 April to 6 May 2023.
 
Celebrated artist Diek Grobler’s animation film, ‘Laaste Woord | Last Word’ will also have its premiere at the Arts Association on World Art Day.  With music by Mart-Marie Snyman, it is a parable of the gradual extinction of the world’s languages. A lonely woman desperately searches for someone who speaks her language.  The 10-minute film promises to be both captivating and moving.
