Pieces and the world they inhabit

Pieces and the world they inhabit, a group exhibition curated by Lelani Nicolaisen, gives insight into how artists incorporate recollections in their work and the underlying meaning it projects. The materials and methods used in their creative production contribute to each artist’s choice of revealing these snippets of memories. When artists display pieces of themselves, objects or memories are unravelled to expose their forms and their meanings. By exploring present or lost facets within, the artists foster a dialogue between them and the world within which they encounter these pieces.
 
The narratives of the pieces explored by participating artists in this exhibition include fragments that are either private and personal memories or reflecting a broader symbolic meaning.
 
The artists are Frederik Eksteen, Natalie Fossey, Nicola Grobler, Teboho Lebakeng, Josly Liebenberg, Shenaz Mahomed, Lelani Nicolaisen, Cazlynne Peffer, Sarel Petrus, Geneve Potgieter, Avi Sooful, Johan Thom and Magdel van Rooyen
