Come and experience the most beautiful romantic journey with Grieg's third Sonata for violin and piano.  This was Grieg's most popular violin sonata and remained a personal favourite of his.  The artists then move to France where you will be introduced to César Frank's Sonata in A major for violin and piano.  He wrote this Sonata as a wedding present for his good friend, Eugene Ysaye, who was a famous virtuoso violinist at the time.  Although Ysaye only received the sonata on the morning of his wedding, he still managed to perform it at the ceremony later that same day.   A very interesting fact is that both these Sonatas were composed in 1886, which, coincidentally, happens to be the same year in which Johannesburg was founded!
